Saboten-Con

So I'm finally recovered enough to talk about Saboten-Con.

As you probably know :iconkitamori: and I had an artist alley booth at Saboten-Con 2009 (which ran Oct 30 - Nov 1). I was dressed as a wa-lolita, complete with 3 3/4 inch heels, and Dani did a different cosplay each day (different outfits for One Piece's Zoro the first two days and Nero the Sea Weasle the second day?). We called our booth Kokoro no Kawaii and I sold a bunch of amigurumi (the fav. was pokeballs which sold out the first day) and hair pieces. Dani sold character heads (Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Zoro and Sanji from One Piece, Asche and ... someone... from Tales of the Abyss?, Haru and Kyo from Fruits Basket, Someone from Hitman Reborn ...I think... Phoenix from Phoenix Wright, and Hitsugya from Bleach). Our booth was right next to Yaya's so it was a heavily trafficed area.

So the day before the con, that would be Thurs the 29th, I missed my Macro-economics class so I could fly down to AZ, the plane was an hour delayed... not fun. But I got to my parent's house in enough time to watch the new episode of Project Runway so I was happy.

On Fri 30th, I woke up early to get ready and Dani's mom picked me up and drove us to the hotel where the con was at. We came in on the wrong side and learned you can basically stroll through artist alley without a badge. It took us forever to find the place where you get the table stuff and badges. Then we set up the table and Dani's mom waited in the bar (which was right behind us) because we had our luggage in the car and we couldn't check in until 3pm and we had set up by 11:30ish. So we watched all the goings on, toured the Vendor's Hall one at a time, sold out of Pokeballs and sold the 2 dragons I made. I met this wonderful woman?girl? who will probably fix my BJD's face next time I got to AZ (in the winter). When we finally packed up and I finally got to see the hotel room which was awesome! Then Dani and I proceeded to stay up way to late (or early) chatting.

On Sat 31st (Halloween), we woke up early got ready and still managed to be running a little late when we got everything set up at our table. We got someone to watch our booth and we took a tour of the rest of artist alley. We took a lot of pictures this day, there were these little kids cosplaying Light and L, they were utterly adorable. I insitigated a impromptu Vocaloid photoshot by souting "Vocaloids gather for pictures" and I ended up taking pictures for someone I didn't know. I learned how to run in my high heels, which is not so much running as it was bouncing about. We shut down the booth early so we could watch the masquerade. We were up front in the line but our seats really weren't that great. I screamed my head off during the masquerade cheering for peoples. It was good overall though it was walk-on heavy. The people who should have won did so I'm happy about that. We ordered Pizza and watched Full Metal Alchemist on TV.

On Sun 1st, we woke up even earlier and set up again. I did Dani's makeup as we were watching our table. We chatted with lots of people, took more pics, took our final turns around the vendors hall. We picked up raffle prizes. I learned that Sephiroth won the "who's hotter" contest by $200 :( but I still love Vincient mostest. There was a little boy dressed in Aang cosplay and everyone was awwing over him in front of our booth. My parents picked us up at 2ish (some how they got into the vendor's hall without badges). They helped us pick up and took us out to lunch at Sizzlers. I went in my outfit but Dani wiped off her makeup, put most of her jewelery away, and took off her hat so she looked normal.

On Mon 2nd I came back to Cali. and almost missed my plane to do it (I didn't check the screens and they told me the wrong terminal, the only reason I found out is that they called me over the speakers). I was so tired, I go like 7 hours of sleep every night of the con and like 4 hours the night before coming back. Yesterday I slept 10 hours straight and I was still exhausted, and my feet hurt but now I'm pretty much back to normal.

So even though I didn't look like we really did a lot I really had a blast, a very good con experience. My pokeballs were very popular and people were throwing them at each other. I was pretty much stalking this couple that was cosplaying because they were so cute.

Anyways!

So I ended up spending oodles of money but I can't relly remember what I bought when so here's just a list of things I got:
The cutest bun bun backpack (I was paying for it a Sailor Moon cosplayer came I squeeled "it's a backpack" and she go "awwww")
a pink Skelanimal
Vampire miyu figure and artbook (it was $14 but the lady charged me 10)
Code Geass pillow and wallet
1 vol of MARS manga and 1 vol of Crossroads manga since they were on sale
3 bookmarks from artist alley (1 of Ritsuka from Loveless, 1 of Japan from Hetalia, 1 of Light, I was telling Dani about why I like Light more than L and I said "because I think he's really a fluffy bunny on the inside" while we were standing at the booth and the lady behind it started laughing)
A cute doll of Sakura from Card Captors that was only $1
2 cans of iced coffee because I love that stuff
Kurama and sleeping Fuji pin
Totoro and Yazoo keychains
Hair sticks
A little EGL hat that I'm taking the clips off of and using for my BJD
DVD of Aqaurian Age since I always wanted to see it and it was only $3
the second disk in the Kiki's Delivery Service DVD set which has the sketchboard drawings also $3
4 DVDs of 12 Kingdoms (one of my favorite animes!) which cost me only $20 bucks all together
... and I think that's it.
